About

PHC was founded in 2009 by Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf, a PhD Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of practice. Every psychologist on our team holds a minimum postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology and has completed over 800 supervised clinical hours before joining PHC.

We offer psychological assessments, individual and group therapy, and clinical supervision. We do not offer shortcuts. If you want a credential-backed assessment or therapy grounded in evidence, this is where you come.

Our Standard

PHC's minimum requirement for any practising psychologist on the team is an MSc or MPhil in clinical psychology and over 800 supervised clinical hours.

Most hold MPhil or PhD qualifications. Experience on the team ranges from 3 to 24 years. This is not the industry norm in Pakistan. It is the standard we hold because anything less is not clinical practice.

Psychologists in Karachi

PHC has over 15 clinical psychologists based in Karachi. Online sessions are available to clients across Pakistan, including Islamabad and Lahore, and to overseas Pakistanis in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Psychologist assignment is based on speciality and the client's presenting needs.

Diagnostic Services

A psychological assessment is a structured clinical process. It uses internationally validated tests to produce a written report on how a person thinks, learns, processes emotion, and functions day to day.

Parents use assessments to understand a child’s learning or behavioural profile. Adults use them to make sense of patterns they cannot explain on their own. Schools and institutions use them for placement and support decisions.

Every assessment at PHC starts with an initial session with Dr. Tahira. She determines which tests are appropriate. You will not be given tests you do not need.

  • Neuropsychological Assessment
  • Emotional Assessment
  • Aptitude Assessment
  • IQ Testing
  • Personality Assessment
  • Vocational Assessment
  • Achievement Assessment
  • Screening of Symptoms

Psychotherapies

Evidence-Based Therapy by Qualified Psychologists

At PHC, every therapy session is conducted by a postgraduate-qualified clinical psychologist with supervised clinical hours. We do not assign therapists based on availability. Assignment is based on speciality, the client’s presenting needs, and clinical fit.

We offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for depression, anxiety, and negative thought patterns. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) for challenging irrational belief systems. Trauma-Informed Therapy for clients dealing with past or ongoing trauma. An Eclectic Approach where a combination of modalities best serves the client’s needs.

For clients requiring more specialist intervention, we also offer EMDR for trauma processing, Hypnotherapy, and NLP.

Sessions are 50 minutes. Available in clinic in Karachi and online across Pakistan and internationally.

Clinical Supervision at PHC

HEC-Approved Supervision by Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf, PhD

PHC’s clinical supervision programme is approved by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and led personally by Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf.

This is structured supervision for MPhil and PhD psychology students and practising mental health professionals who need HEC-compliant oversight. It is not a general workshop or a short course. It is rigorous, case-based supervision by one of Pakistan’s most credentialed and published clinical psychologists, with over 20 years of academic and clinical experience behind it.

Participants work through in-depth case analysis, advanced therapeutic frameworks, ethical decision-making in clinical practice, and the application of evidence-based methods to complex presentations.

If you are a psychology professional seeking supervision that meets HEC standards and genuinely advances your clinical competence, contact PHC to discuss availability.

Mental Health Conditions

PHC works with a wide range of psychological conditions across all age groups. If you are unsure whether what you are experiencing falls within our scope, contact us. We will tell you directly whether we can help and refer you elsewhere if we cannot.

More From PHC

Play therapy for children, internship training for psychology professionals, and books by Dr. Tahira Yousaf.

PHC’s play therapy programme works with children under 7 facing developmental, behavioural, or emotional challenges. Sessions use Child-Centered Play Therapy and targeted Directive Techniques, delivered by trained psychologists in a structured clinical setting.

Areas addressed include speech development, emotional regulation, social interaction, and behavioural patterns. Most families see measurable change within 6 to 8 weeks. Every session is tailored to the child. No two plans are the same.

PHC’s internship programme places psychology students in a working clinical environment under the supervision of experienced psychologists. Interns are involved in real casework, assessments, and therapeutic support across a range of presentations.

The programme is open to BS, MSc, and MPhil psychology students. Placement is competitive. PHC does not offer internships as a formality. Interns work to the same professional and ethical standards as the rest of the team.

Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf has published two books on mental wellness and CBT. “Path to Peace: A Workbook for Healing with CBT” offers practical, evidence-based exercises for managing anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem, drawn from over 20 years of clinical practice. “The Trust Fall” addresses trust issues and emotional recovery.

Both are available on Amazon Kindle and in print at the PHC clinic.

    Prof. Tahira Yousaf, PhD

Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Karachi and has practised as a clinical psychologist for over 20 years. She founded the Psychological Help Centre in Karachi in 2009 with a single standard: every psychologist on the team must be properly qualified, properly supervised, and working within an evidence-based clinical framework.

She is an HEC-approved research supervisor, a certified global professional trainer recognised by the International Association of People and Performance Development, and a member of the American Psychological Association. She has published research in internationally indexed journals covering cognitive-behavioural approaches to depression, anxiety, and psychological disorders.

She is also the author of two published books on mental wellness and CBT, available on Amazon and in print at the clinic.

Dr. Tahira's qualifications, memberships, and publications are verifiable. In a field where credential inflation is a known problem in Pakistan, that matters.

    Dr Tahira Yousaf

    Academic Leadership

Prof. Dr. Tahira Yousaf has taught clinical psychology at Bahria University's Institute of Professional Psychology for over 20 years. She has developed curricula that integrate psychological theory with supervised clinical practice, and has trained and mentored hundreds of psychologists now practising across Pakistan and internationally.

Her academic work is not separate from her clinical work. The same standards she applies in the classroom, evidence-based methods, ethical practice, and rigorous case supervision, are the standards PHC operates by.

    HEC Approved Supervisor

Dr. Tahira is an approved supervisor by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, one of a limited number of clinical psychologists in the country to hold this designation. She supervises postgraduate research at MPhil and PhD level, holding students to the clinical and academic standards required by HEC.

Her supervisory work has shaped a generation of clinical psychologists in Pakistan who practise with proper methodology and ethical grounding.

    Certified Global Professional Trainer

Dr. Tahira is a certified professional trainer recognised by the International Association of People and Performance Development. She delivers workshops and training programmes for mental health professionals, bridging clinical theory and real-world practice.

Her training work extends beyond Pakistan. She has worked with mental health professionals internationally, bringing the same clinical rigour to capacity building that she applies in her own practice and supervision.

    Research and Publications

Dr. Tahira Yousaf is a published researcher with contributions to internationally indexed journals, including work recognised by Psychological Abstracts and WHO's Regional Index Medicus. Her research covers cognitive-behavioural therapy for depression and anxiety, psychological assessment practices, and the treatment of complex psychological disorders.

She is also the author of two books written for general readers seeking practical mental health support. "Path to Peace: A Workbook for Healing with CBT" and "The Trust Fall" are available on Amazon Kindle and in print at the PHC clinic. Both are grounded in her clinical experience and written to be used, not just read.

    What our clients say

    Client Feedback

I needed to check which path my child should take in her academics and decided to come here for an in-depth analysis. The results took a week, but I’m happy now that I know what my kid is capable of and where she will succeed best.

    ZH, October 2024

I took appointment for my sibling. We are very confused what he is good at and we don’t want to waste money on making him sit for useless exams and making him study something he will never understand anyway. Testing was expensive but we would have wasted a lot more by making my brother study useless.

    R.M, October 2023

There was no wait time, good staff, great experience. I felt empowered after my first visit. Dr. Tahira has been a source of light for me, she helped me out to get out of depression I am extremely grateful to her.

    S.K., May 2022

I took two sessions back to back. The PA was not allowing it but Dr Tahira allowed it. I later came to know its not common and Dr Tahira did not object and let me talk. It became very expensive but after that I had clarity on everything. She took some tests as well but it was all worth it. Now I just take online session if I need to or have some things piled up. She is very good at her work.

    Q.M., July 2021

We have consulted with Dr Tahira for my daughter’s OCD. She listens patiently. She’s been very professional and has helped tremendously in recovery of my daughter. We would highly recommend her for any psychological issues

    S.A., November 2020

I referred Dr. Tahira Yousaf to my friend for her height phobia and after 4-5 sessions with her she has overcome that phobia. Highly recommended

    L.M., October 2020

I had personality disorder issues but just because of her I am getting better. She is a humble lady who is very approachable and easy to talk to.
